| December 21, 2007 Hanson Pipe & Precast, one of the world’s largest suppliers of heavy building materials, is introducing one of the first pre-engineered elevated foundation systems compatible with customized floor plans. These innovative elevation systems can be installed quickly and are an affordable and attractive option for homeowners to protect their homes from the unexpected. Hanson’s Elevated Foundation Systems use a unique installation technique with ready-made concrete sections that fit together to adapt to any commercial or residential floor plan. Depending on the size of the home, the elevated foundation system can be installed in two to three days. “Hanson responded to homeowners’ needs in coastal areas with its elevated foundation system that is dependable, reasonably priced and easy for builders to install,” said Richard Manning, president and chief executive officer of Hanson Building Products North America. “Hanson strives to provide its customers with innovative building solutions to put their minds at ease.” Hanson’s Elevated Foundation Systems are an alternative to elevation methods such as structural poured concrete columns and beam designs that are expensive or woodpile/wood floor joist systems that are unable to withstand increasingly severe weather conditions. This state-of-the-art elevation method encompasses the benefits of slab, such as durability, noise reduction and mold and insect resistance, while raising the structure above the base flood elevation level. Hanson understands homeowners’ needs for a safe and secure home without having to sacrifice its outward appearance,” says Clifford Hahne, president of Hanson’s South Central region, based in Grand Prairie, Texas. “Our elevation systems provide space for a garage or an excess storage area and can be painted or covered in stucco to match the siding of the structure built on the foundation system.” Hanson’s Elevated Foundation Systems are available in the L-Series and H-Series catering to homeowners with different elevation needs. The L-Series is for homeowners requiring lower elevation levels of 3, 4, 5 and 6 feet above the sub ground foundation and is able to withstand 170 mph winds for a single-story home. The H-Series is designed for more extreme weather conditions of 180 mph winds and tidal surge heights up to 14 feet. The H-Series is available in 8, 10, 12 and 14-foot heights above the sub grade foundation. Hanson’s Elevated Foundation Systems are currently produced at Hanson’s New Orleans facility, which is part of Hanson’s South Central region. The region has 26 facilities, which provide gravity pipe, pressure pipe and precast concrete products to Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Québec and Ontario, Canada. Steel and concrete pressure pipe produced at the Grand Prairie facility is available nationally. Products produced in Hanson’s South Central region, such as reinforced concrete pipe, drainage structures, modular bridges and pressure pipe are used for community and roadway development.
